The feedback we
got through this project was important to make sure we got every aspect of the
music video, digipack and magazine advert right as we possible could. We also
did lots of research to make sure we knew what audience we were making the
music video for, this involved looking on the ‘UK Tribes’ website which splits
up the social groups and we were able to identify which group our target
audience belonged too so we could ask the right questions and acknowledge the
answers from the right people and what they thought. After we had researched
the social groups we made a survey on survey monkey that asked our target
market group about what they would like to see in the music video such as if
they like nature, bubbles, cars, summer clothes, sunsine/summer, locations etc.
in order to find out what would be best for us to put in the music video to
pleas them as our audience, we also wanted to find out what age group was
involved with this type of genre which was teenagers and that gave us lots of
freedom with the music video because we could do creative things as they have a
wider imagination and are susceptible to different ideas. We also put our mood
board on the survey too so they were able to visually see some of the clothing
that we were suggesting to use.
From this survey
and showing them the mood board we got lots of positive and informative
feedback allowing us to continue with our video and we were able to start
making a music video that pleased our target audience and suited the genre we
wanted.
Once we had got a
music video that we were happy with we asked our peer, friends and people
within the target market what they liked and disliked about the video, we did
this by making a short survey on this and we also asked questions like what
they thought of Rosa-Leigh as an artist and if she suited the genre and could
anything be changed or improved. We mostly got positive feedback from them with
few changes and they all seemed to like different aspects of the video and were
happy to say that not much needed changing and they liked the artist in the
video and the song we had chosen for the genre. The only problems that we had
were some people didn’t like some of the effects we used such as the
kaleidoscope and the mirrored effect but a greater majority of people liked
than disliked the effects so we decided to keep them in the video. We changes
some of the aspects of the video that people didn’t like such as the amount of
costume changes and one location which was the white room/attic that we shot in
and instead they would prefer the whole video to be outdoors, summery and
nature like. We also listened to feedback from our teacher Mr. Ford allowing us
to improve the video more.
The feedback we
got from Mr. Ford was different from our peers because he was looking at other
parts in the video like the mes en scene and how it effected the look of our
artist, one of the mes en scene comments was that he didn’t like the fences in
some of the shots because they were too dark and drew your attention away from
the artist and the brightness of the shot and he suggested to have nature in
the background instead. We went away and re-filmed the shots thinking more
about the mes en scene and other parts of the video that could be changed to
make the video look more professional to the target audience, after we made the
changes the music video had improved so much and we were happy with the final
outcome of the video and our target audience was pleased with the changes too
making us believe that we had accomplished a music video that suits the style
and the genre.
